El juego de cartas de comercio Pokémon presentaba el formato estándar 2021-22, usando todas las cartas de Sword & Shield en adelante. Los jugadores recibieron invitaciones de obtener suficientes puntos de campeonato durante todo el año, con lo mejor de ellos recibiendo invitaciones del día dos, o del campeonato mundial anterior.
El primer día del torneo consistió en rondas suizas para todos los jugadores que no recibieron una invitación del día dos. Jugadores con dos o menos pérdidas y sin empates avanzaron al día dos. El segundo día consistió en un nuevo conjunto de rondas suizas que no usan los registros del día anterior y los jugadores podrían cambiar las cubiertas entre días. Los partidos tuvieron lugar en Pokémon Sword y Shield y fueron todas las batallas dobles. Todos los Pokémon en el Galar Pokédex, excepto Pokémon mítico y ciertos Pokémon legendarios, dado que tenían un símbolo de Galar, estaban permitidos. Los niveles para todos los Pokémon se ajustaron al nivel 50 y no se permitieron Pokémon o artículos duplicados.
